So, is this really safe or would you recommend to wait just a little longer?

Thanx a lot ! Cheesy

Yesterday I flashed my Dutch T-Mobile GC900 using this walkthrough.
It went really great, no problems at all.

Finally released from that T-Mobile stuff.
Even got the weather widget now Smiley

Too bad the browser's still crap. I expected they would atleast have introduced realtime zooming in this firmware version.
But luckely there's still Opera to use.

Still don't understand why T-Mobile won't offer the original update on their website.
They just force their customers to do it this way.

Plucked up the courage to do my mine too at the weekend. Excellent instructions that worked like a dream.

I now have new firmware without the Orange rubbish included, Google Maps and photo editing that finally works!

Thanks very much!

Did you start USB Map Wizard through FlashTool_E2.exe. Does it detect the phone? Otherwise try reinstalling your drivers.

Step Number 5 should tell you to then replace the battery again after removing the sim card etc. Without the battery back in the phone your computer won't recognise it as there's no power to the usb port. Start again and hopefully all will then continue as described.

Thanks for the tip!!!! Very much appreciated. The phone is fantastic without the Orange bloat and bugs. It seems much faster and smoother with the Orange stuff removed.

The firmware instructions are not very clear in a couple of places so I'll tell you what I did to get it to work. Follow the original instructions and when you get to........

Step 3-As well as the .fls file, there is a .dll file in the same folder. IGNORE IT!!!!! You only need the .fls file. I worried about that one for a while before going ahead. My GC900 would be the prettiest brick ever, but it would still be a brick Smiley

and.........

Step 5-It says remove the sim, memory card and battery but doesn't say to put the battery back in before you connect the phone. I did it with the battery IN the first time and it worked absolutely fine. I also did it with the battery OUT and lo and behold, it also worked!!!

and lastly.......

Step 8-You only neeed to do this to 1 USB port on your computer if you are happy to only use this port to connect your GC900 in the future. I used one of my front ports because I'm kinda lazy and couldn't be bothered to pull out my comp and mess around at the back. It works fine. Smiley

Hope this helps if you're a bit confused or nervous. It's actually very simple. Many thanks to LGmaster for the heads up in the first place.

When you connect phone to Computer do you have a new Disk with LG icon and files on it?
You must connect phone in "PC Suite" mode.
If you do, execute the USBAutoRun.exe. If LG PC Suite III opens, close it, then try step 8.
It could help you.
